In 1934, at the height of the great depression, our founders Dr. G. Frederick Smith & brothers Allyne & Clarence Smith, utilizing a process invented by Dr. Charles Goetz, introduced aerosol whipped cream to the world. Three generations later, Instantwhip Foods, still led by the Smith family, has evolved into a full line specialty food distributor, providing premium food service supplies to all sectors of the food & beverage and hospitality sectors. Each Instantwhip franchised distribution location offers a wide range of food service and related products, and are committed to providing the highest quality products and excellent service in each marketplace.
Our Story
It all started during the height of the depression, when Professor Dr. G. Frederick Smith, his brothers Allyne H. Smith and Clarence Smith, the founders brought aerosol whipped cream to market for the first time. Dr. Smith and his brother Allyne devised a system to take dairy cream, process, package and pressurize it in returnable containers to produce Instantwhip whipped cream for use in restaurants, ice cream shops and soda fountains nationwide. The Smith’s returnable container and filling system made a process invented and patented by Professor Dr. Charles A Goetz for whipping cream under pressure both economical and commercially viable.
Since 1934, distributors of Instantwhip Foods have grown to become national manufacturers and distributors of fine dairy and non-dairy refrigerated food products to the foodservice and bakery industry. Instantwhip distributors provide products under many popular brands such as Instantwhip Cream, Instantwhip Topping, B/C Topping, Barista Prime, Instantblend Coffee Creamer, YAMI Yogurt, ZOI Greek Yogurt, Fit & Fruity Yogurt, Ambrosia® Gourmet Frozen Yogurt and many others. Ernie R. Oldham Award Winners
This award is given periodically and under special circumstances to an outstanding individual whose many years of dedication and service reflect the values, character and integrity exemplified by Ernest R. Oldham, and whose enthusiasm, leadership and professionalism serve as an inspiration to others in the continuing development and success of Instantwhip and its employees.
The Recipient of the award shall be chosen by the Chairman of the Board upon recommendations from the Board of Directors. The management of any franchise is welcome to forward to the Board of Directors the name of any employee considered deserving of the award. Employees of any company franchised by Instantwhip Foods, Inc. are eligible for consideration.
In recognition of their leadership, enthusiasm and professionalism which serve as an inspiration to others in the continuing development and success of Instantwhip and its employees, and whose many years of dedication and service to Instantwhip reflect the values, character and integrity exemplified by Ernest R.
